Recording Consent
Recording consent is the confirmation, obtained from every participant in a conversation, that capturing it is acceptable before the capture begins — a decision made once, at the start, and separate from any later question of who may access the resulting recording. A system can get access control on the stored recording exactly right and still have gotten this earlier, different question wrong, if the recording was never authorized to exist in the first place.
The two questions are easy to conflate because both concern the same recording, but they're checked at different moments by different logic: consent is evaluated before capture happens at all, while access control governs the already-existing artifact afterward. Strong access control on a recording doesn't retroactively justify having made it without the right consent.
